His Way
His Way Something completely different, and uncoming of my behavior would be.. a movie review.. who the fuck am I do review movies.. or music for that matter.. haah . well maybe musak?..
Anywho, let's skip the androgonous.. I just picked up " Sid and Nancy: The directors Cut" .. well all I can say is.. "BRA-fUCKING-VO". It's hard enough to encapuslate something without trying to be tribunal, but this film pulls it off. It contains a certain dominant nostalgia that reaks of truthfullness. Gary Oldmans' ( Bram Stokers' : Dracula, Lost in Space ) portryal of the star-crossed/ill-famed Sid Vicious of the legendary Sex Pistols is truly breathtaking. He effortlessly resembles the charismatic chaos that was Sid Vicious.
Caught between the indulging world of rock and roll and teetering on the edge of self-descruction, Vicious develops a rather nasty habit for heroin and self mutalation, which was the cause of his untimely death in 1979. After dropping out from the limelight post the Pistols' break-up, Vicious turns to the only person he's ever known who truly "cared" about him. The Masochistic somewhat insane Nancy Spungen, to whom A gratifying nod goes to Chloe Webb ( Twins ) for her spectacular adaptation of the heroin addict girlfriend who was ( accordingly ) the reason, if not directly connected to Vicious' death.
The film itself is not great, but it has it's moments that scream for greatness, all in all it's a classic love story between two people that shouldn't have been, a somewhat new aged " Romeo and Juliet" but without the eloquance.
